A Smethport man is in McKean County Jail after allegedly breaking into a Keating Township home over the weekend.
Cameron J. Abbey, 20, of 2067 E. Valley Road, Smethport, was arraigned before District Judge William Todd on charges of burglary, a first-degree felony; theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, both first-degree misdemeanors; and criminal mischief and defiant trespassing, summaries.
According to Kane-based state police, who filed the charges, between 12:01 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Abbey broke into a Keating Township house and took items including a 42-inch television, a camera, an Xbox 1, a chainsaw and a lamp.
The criminal complaint states the items were worth a total of $1,050.
The victim returned home to her 1608 Route 446 around 5:30 p.m. to find the dog fence in her back yard was smashed, her rear screen door was open and several items were missing. Abbey allegedly pawned the television and lamp to Watson’s Hard Knocks in Smethport in exchange for $120, according to court records.
Abbey was incarcerated in lieu of $15,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on April 26.
