The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will hold a celebration of Earth and Arbor days from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the Mukaiyama University Room of the Frame-Westerberg Commons.
The event will begin with sustainability activities sponsored by the Environmental Studies Club, including making pet rocks, bird ID contest, tree ID contest, speed recycling, 2-liter bottle bowling and making “green” laundry soap.
Club members will also be selling lettuce plants and have information on local trails.
Events will continue with presentations by Dr. Matt Kropf, assistant professor of energy science and technology, and students in the energy science and technology program.
From 12:30 to 1 p.m., Kropf will review the university’s new sustainability plan that went into effect in December.
Sean Defazio, a senior engineering science and energy science and technology major from Scranton, will present the results of a campus energy audit he performed for his capstone project.
A tree planting is also planned, weather permitting.
