COUDERSPORT — Potter County has launched a new community notification system to provide important alerts and time-sensitive messages to area staff and residents.
The program, called CodeRED, uses a variety of communication methods to submit the alerts. It also provides access to a mobile app that gives real-time alerts as well.
“Potter County chose CodeRED for its innovative features, user-friendly platform, and widespread adoption rates across the country,” said county emergency management coordinator Glenn Dunn. “Their company-owned redundant data centers help ensure our data is safe and that messages are delivered quickly to thousands of individuals within minutes. We’re excited to expand our communication channels with residents to include text, phone, email and social media platforms, from anywhere, providing the information they need-to-know to make better informed decisions.”
Alerts can be specific to streets, neighborhoods or regions. The residents can choose to be alerted via landline, cell phone, text message, TTY or even a combination of the options.
In order to sign up for the alert system, residents are encouraged to visit www.pottercountypa.net. Once connected to the county website, residents should choose Departments, Emergency Services and then the CodeRED option. For more information, call Dunn at 274-8900, ext. 501.
