CLEARFIELD — Monday will bring the start of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s roadway improvement job on Route 66 in McKean County, south of Kane.
This work will improve the ride quality and useful life on almost two miles of roadway from the McKean/Elk county line north toward Kane.
The goal of the project is to upgrade drainage, correct super-elevations and cross slopes, reconstruction of roadway shoulders, and placement of a high friction surface treatment on James City hill. Overall work on this betterment project will include roadway reconstruction, installation of new drainage pipes and inlets, pavement base drain, guide rail, pavement markings, and miscellaneous construction.
IA Construction of Franklin, PA is the contractor on this $1.8 million job. The project is expected to finish before the Fourth of July. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
