Two Era writers have been honored in the 2018 Professional Keystone Press Awards.
Former sports reporter Pete Sirianni, now with the New Castle News, won a second place honor for sports/outdoor columns.
Era Associate Editor Marcie Schellhammer received an honorable mention for the court beat, including coverage of two criminal trials and several civil lawsuits or judgments.
Sirianni is a 2012 graduate of Kane Area High School and a 2016 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The son of Mark and Jan, Sirianni lives in New Castle.
This is his second professional award.
Schellhammer has been with the Era since 2001, and has been associate editor since 2010. She is a graduate of Otto-Eldred High School and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
This is her ninth professional award.
