EMPORIUM (EC) — An Emporium man has been charged with more than 60 counts related to possession of illegal substances and paraphernalia.
Kurt A. Wallin, 50, has been charged with one felony count of intent to manufacture or distribute a designer drug, 50 misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and ten misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance following an investigation by members of the Emporium Borough Police Department.
Through a separate investigation, Emporium police officers received information concerning illegal drug activity taking place at a residence on Dexter Street in the Emporium Borough. Wallin was implicated in the information, according to police.
Officers executed a search warrant on the evening of March 29 and discovered multiple baggies of suspected large amounts of methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana wax, along with paraphernalia that included more than 100 glass smoking pipes, scales, packaging items and a large amount of small plastic baggies, according to the affidavit of probable cause on file at Magisterial District Judge Barry Brown’s office in Emporium.
The affidavit stated that the found items are indicative of the use and sale of illegal drugs.
Wallin was arraigned on the day of the search and remanded to the McKean County Jail in lieu of $75,000 straight cash bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on April 12.
