KANE — A James City man is facing charges for allegedly taking $2,350 for a construction job, but failing to perform the work.
Donald Walters, 32, whose address was reported to be 28 Virginia Ave., Apt. 1, is charged with home-improvement fraud and theft by deception, both third-degree felonies.
According to court records, the victim called state police in October to report that she had hired Walters to do renovations to her camp on Big Shanty Road in Lewis Run, but he didn’t do the work. She paid him $2,350, but he stopped returning her calls, the records alleged.
Police said they contacted Walters’ father, who told them he had heard that his son was “heavily into drugs and left the area,” according to the criminal complaint.
District Judge David Engman in Kane issued a warrant for Walters’ arrest.
