In regard to John Jeselnick’s letter to the editor in the March 10 edition, go ahead, put all the gun control you want on Americans — just remember Germany taking all the people’s guns and what happened.
If it all goes too far, only people who don’t care about the law will have guns, then you will see real slaughter in America.
No, I don’t believe that kids should have guns, but I also believe that no matter what you do we have ignorant parents who don’t teach their kids gun safety, and they are also very careless with guns themselves — leaving cars unlocked with guns in them, not making sure their guns are locked in a safe place so kids can’t get them and on and on.
I don’t believe just any citizen should have even a semiautomatic weapon — what does anyone need 10, 20 or even 50 weapons? — but no matter what laws you make, lawless people are going to get them. Look at the Fast and Furious weapons sting that the Obama administration did, then claimed they didn’t know what happened. Sure, we make these laws, but the only ones who obey them are law-abiding citizens.
Stop all the complaining and do what has been proposed. Put better detection devices in our schools and experienced police and retired military to show a presence at schools. If potential bad actors know somebody is going to shoot back, they will not bring weapons to school.
Meanwhile, we have problems with children having children and people are pushing to make certain drugs legal to grow and sell, so it will be even more accessible to our youth. What happened to the drug war we spent billions of dollars on?
