SMETHPORT — Electronic and household hazardous waste will be accepted at a collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 28 at the McKean County Fairgrounds.
Accepted items include household chemicals at $1.60 per pound: Oil-based/latex paint, deck stains, flammable liquids, drain cleaners, pool chemicals, fertilizers, antifreeze, oil, putties, glues, adhesives, wood/metal finishing products, water sealers, household cleaning agents, herbicides and pesticides.
Cathode Ray Tube televisions and monitors will cost 55 cents per pound. Other electronic waste will cost 35 cents per pound and include desktop computers, non-CRT devices, laptops, VCRs, phones, eight-tracks, DVD or CD players, radios, game consoles, electronic devices and more.
Bulbs, incandescent, fluorescent, neon and infrared, and batteries, including car, motorcycle, alkaline and button cells, will cost at $1.60 per pound; small freon containing devices will cost 63 cents per pound; and mercury containing devices will cost $6.35 per pound.
Pre-registration is required for this event. Pricing will be determined upon registration. An appointment time will be assigned.
