Over the winter Bradford Sanitary Authority crews completed geographic information system data entry on more than 1,300 catch basins and storm inlets, including photos, videos, specifications and condition ranking.
The announcement was made at the authority’s meeting held Tuesday.
“Additionally, crews now have about 30 percent of the storm line locations entered into the authority’s GIS digital mapping system,” authority Executive Director Rick Brocius said. “Working around breaks in the winter weather, crews tackled several line cleaning projects in the Mill Street and Chestnut Street areas when inspections revealed that debris was obstructing flows in the system. During heavy rain events crews monitor the city streets for signs of back-ups and record problem locations to prioritize future cleaning or repair work.”
In the Walker Avenue area 475 feet of line was video inspected in response to drainage concerns. On Mill Street 300 feet of line was found to be clogged with debris and has since been cleaned.
Authority crews also have two inflow-and-infiltration projects to tackle on the sanitary system in the Chestnut and Congress areas as the weather improves.
“BSA would like to ask residents and motorists to be alert to equipment in the streets as work will continue in the Elm, Chestnut, and Congress Street areas in the upcoming weeks,” Brocius said.
Also at the meeting, engineer Jack Rae announced that the authority is soliciting bids for phase three of the plant upgrades. The bids will be opened April 19 at the authority’s office.
