McKean County government is looking for a new finance director.
The county is advertising for someone to be responsible for budgeting, cash flow, expenditures, reimbursements and reporting to the county commissioners. Whoever gets the position will succeed Dustin Laurie, who held the role for several years; he resigned late last year.
Primary responsibilities of the finance director role include development of the county budget, provide financial reporting and counsel on investments, ensure proper cash flow and appropriate expenditures, make adjustments to the county spending plan, confirm maximum reimbursements have been received and other tasks.
“This person is a member of the finance team, along with the county treasurer, county controller and fiscal director of human services, as well as the county commissioners,” said Kathy Roche, human resources director for the county.
Resumes are due by April 2. She said she is hoping that interviews will be conducted the same month and that an offer will be made to a candidate by the end of April. Minimum requirements for the job include a bachelor’s degree in business management or accounting and at least five years of experience in budgeting and general accounting.
Laurie, who ran for the county controller position during the November general election, moved on from the finance director role to pursue his private business, BookKeeping Express. He resigned Nov. 24. He also owns Opportunity Tax and Insurance Service of Bradford and Westons Mills, N.Y.
“(Laurie) is greatly missed, and added a great deal to management of the finances here at the county,” Roche said.
