A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail after allegedly calling the McKean County 911 Center to say he was going to kill people on Main Street.
Elvis McCartney, 60, of 60 Walker Ave., was arraigned before District Judge Dominic Cercone on one charge of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, at 11:44 a.m. Thursday, McCartney called the 911 center to say he was going to kill people on Main Street, Bradford, and he would assault any police officers who tried to stop him.
When Bradford City police responded to McCartney’s residence, he told them he was feeling homicidal and was going to kill people downtown on Main Street; police reported that McCartney kept repeating the same threat, court records stated. Police took him into custody and placed him in a holding cell at the station, where McCartney allegedly continued making the same threat.
While officers did not find any knife or other weapon on McCartney, police noted he has carried knives on him in the past. Police also indicated in the criminal complaint that “the sustained threat and his past history of calls with the Police Department” prompted them to file the charge.
McCartney is in jail in lieu of $2,500 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
