MORE: We promised you some more of what Pennsylvania has to offer.
The visitpa.com website has a section promoting events across the state for this month, and two events in Bradford made the list.
O’Malley’s Irish Pub dinner theater at Beefeaters on Saturday is on the list, as is the Bradford Brewfest on March 24.
The Potter-Tioga Maple Weekend, to be held this Saturday and Sunday, was also mentioned.
Visitpa also had an Instagram Takeover March 2 to 4 for The Lodge at Glendorn.
That’s a lot of attention on the region. And just how does it happen?
We didn’t mention this in the last column, but Linda Devlin and the folks over at Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau are the ones responsible for promoting the area and having it included in the state’s tourism efforts. Kudos to their hard work!
HISTORY: Here’s a way to see some of Pennsylvania, and to make a difference at an historical site. The Civil War Trust is asking for volunteers willing to help with the maintenance and restoration of Pennsylvania battlefields and historic sites on April 7, Park Day.
Volunteers interested in participating are asked to contact the site itself. Activities are chiefly outdoor jobs that range from raking leaves and collecting trash to painting signs and gardening. Volunteers will receive T-shirts, and some sites will provide lunch or refreshments.
At 9 a.m., work will begin at Gettysburg National Military Park. Work will include removal of shrubs and woody debris. Tools and drinking water will be provided. An interpretive talk will be delivered at noon. The contact is Norma Lohman at norma_lohman@nps.gov
Work will begin at 9 a.m. at Monterey Pass Battlefield Park, Blue Ridge Summit.
The contact is John Miller at jamiller@montereypassbattlefield.org
Volunteers will help clear brush, install markers and interpretive signs, and conduct trail maintenance. Volunteers will be provided with water.
More information on the event is available at Civilwar.org/parkday

PI DAY: Clayton Vecellio of Lewis Run called to let everyone know that today is Pi Day.
Pi, which represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, is often rounded to 3.14 — the same as today’s date.
He heard it on the show Jeopardy.
