A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail after allegedly entering home Tuesday evening and forcibly taking Suboxone from another man.
Patrick M. Carpenter, 34, of 30 Keating Ave., was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of burglary, a first-degree felony; robbery, a third-degree felony; three counts of terroristic threats, all first-degree misdemeanors; simple assault, theft by unlawful taking and recklessly endangering another person, all second-degree misdemeanors; and three summary counts of harassment.
Carpenter is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The criminal complaint indicates that on Tuesday afternoon, three adults were sitting in a home at 9 Hoffman Ave., watching television and playing with a 2-year-old boy, when Carpenter allegedly smashed the door open and entered without permission. The door had been locked, but the lock mechanism is faulty.
Carpenter “stormed into the home and immediately went after Zachary Dahlke, pushing him and verbally threatening him that he would physically assault him if he did not give over his prescription Suboxone,” court records stated.
Dahlke refused, and Carpenter put him in a headlock and choked him; during the struggle, Carpenter also shoved the child, knocking him to the ground and causing him to cry, the complaint indicated.
Christina Fitzpatrick screamed at Carpenter to get out, and Carpenter said, “Give me the drugs and I don’t care if you call the cops!” court records stated.
According to the complaint, Fitzpatrick yelled back, “You just pushed over a little kid, get out of here!” and Carpenter told her to “get away or he would hit her.” Fitzpatrick said she was going to call the police, and Carpenter replied, “Just give them to me.”
Dahlke was able to force his way out of the headlock, and he went into the kitchen, got two strips of Suboxone and gave them to Carpenter. Dahlke told police that Carpenter appeared to be “‘dope sick’ and desperate.”
Carpenter is scheduled for a Central Court appearance on March 15.
