LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. — Two McKean County, Pa., residents were sentenced on criminal charges Monday in Cattaraugus County Court.
District Attorney Lori Pettit Rieman announced Tuesday that Charity Marks, 44, of Lewis Run and James Haley, 55, of Bradford were sentenced.
Marks will serve five years of probation after being convicted of third-degree welfare fraud, a felony. According to Rieman, between Oct. 1, 2015, and April 1, 2016, in the city of Olean, Marks unlawfully obtained public assistance benefits with a value exceeding $3,000.
Meanwhile, Haley will serve one year of conditional release for a conviction of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. On May 17, in the town of Carrollton, Haley possessed a narcotic, Rieman stated.
