PORT ALLEGANY –– Fire destroyed a two-story, wood-frame home in Liberty Township on Tuesday afternoon.
The Star Hose Co. No. 1 was dispatched around 12:30 p.m. to 240 N. Brooklynside Road and arrived to find one room on the first floor on fire.
No one was home at the time of the fire. Damage to the home is estimated at around $25,000, and the structure is no longer livable, said Assistant Chief Alex Johnson. He did not know the occupant’s name.
The state police fire marshal team is investigating the cause of the blaze and the point of origin, Johnson said.
Firefighters were on scene for about two hours. Assisting on scene were the Star Hose Co. No. 1, Roulette, Smethport, Eldred and Coudersport fire departments.
