A Brookville man who was arrested in Elk County on a warrant was found to be in possession of a weapon.
Elk County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release Thursday stating that Colton Baird, 26, was apprehended Feb. 20 by sheriff’s deputies on Front Street in Ridgway. Baird was wanted by state police on a criminal arrest warrant.
Deputies reported that Baird had a concealed prohibited offensive weapon on his person, but did not specify what kind of weapon it was.
The press release did not provide further details on what the warrant was for, but Pennsylvania’s online court docket system shows that burglary charges were filed against Baird in January in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.
He wasn’t arraigned on the Jefferson County charges until Feb. 21, when he was committed to jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Charges against him there are burglary, a first-degree felony; burglary, a second-degree felony; and criminal trespassing, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, all third-degree felonies, court records stated.
In Elk County, the following charged was filed against Baird: possession of an offensive weapon, a first-degree misdemeanor, court records stated.
He was jailed on an additional $10,000 bail in the Elk County Case, and a preliminary hearing is set for March 7.
A preliminary hearing in the Jefferson County case is scheduled for March 6.
