KANE — The Roach-Bauer Forestry Forum, scheduled for April 5, will feature Dr. Jean-Martin Lussier of the Canadian Forest Service, who will share insights on rehabilitation of forested stands.
The title of his presentation is “Using a Multiple Treatment Approach for Rehabilitation Silviculture.” Lussier is currently employed as a research scientist in silviculture and forest management at the Canadian Wood Fibre Center within the Canadian Forest Service of Natural Resources Canada of the Government of Canada. The Wood Fibre Center is dedicated to the enhancement of the competitiveness of the Canadian forest sector. The Centre is directly supported by Forest Program Innovations, one of the world’s largest private, non-profit research centres working in forest research.
Lussier’s research focuses on the development of silvicultural systems adapted to hardwood, mixedwood, and softwood stands, on the growth response of stands to partial cuttings, and on the optimization of forest management decisions.
His presentation will be of interest to forest managers, silviculturists, consulting foresters, forest researchers, scientists, loggers, and land managers. Continuing Forestry Education credits apply to this presentation.
Lussier’s career has spanned 25+ years. He received his B.Sc. in Forest Resource Management at the Universite Laval, Quebec in 1988. He received his M.Sc. in Renewable Resources from the Universite du Quebec in 1991, and completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the same University in 1997.
