Residents in the area can look forward to award-worthy films being shown next month.
The Academy Award Film Series will be starting on March 5 at the Bradford Main Street Movie House.
Films will be shown every Monday evening at 5:30.
Tickets are on sale for $7 each, and a season pass can be purchased for $84, and includes a free medium popcorn to each show.
The first film in the series to be shown, is “The Florida Project,” starring Bria Vinaite and William Dafoe. Taking place over one summer, the film follows a precocious six-year-old named Moonee. She dwells into mischief and adventure, along with her playmates and her rebellious, but caring mother, all while living in the shadows of Walt Disney World.
The film series will continue on March 12, with “Lady Bird,” starring Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf. The film follows an outspoken teen who must navigate a long, but turbulent relationship with her strong-willed mother over the course of her senior year of high school.
On March 19, “Darkest Hour,” will be playing. The film stars Gary Oldman, Lily James and Ben Mendelsohn. During the early days of World War II, the fate of Western Europe hangs on the newly-appointed British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, who must decide whether to negotiate with Hitler, or fight against the odds.
On March 26, “Call Me by Your Name,” will be playing. The film stars Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer, and takes place in Northern Italy in 1983. Seventeen-year-old Elio begins a relationship with visiting Oliver, his father’s research assistant, their Jewish heritage and the beguiling Italian landscape.
On April 2, “Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri,” will be shown, starring Frances McDormand and Woody Harrelson. The film follows a mother who personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter’s murder when they fail to catch the culprit.
On April 9, “Phantom Thread,” will be playing, starring Daniel Day Lewis and Vicky Krieps. Set in 1950s London, the film is the story of Reynolds Woodcock, a renowned dressmaker whose fastidious life is disrupted by a young, strong-willed woman named Alma.
On April 16, “I, Tonya,” will be shown. The film stars Margot Robbie and Allison Janney, and follows a competitive ice skater named Tonya Harding, who rises amongst the ranks at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Her future in the activity however, is thrown into doubt when her ex-husband intervenes.
On April 23, “The Disaster Artist,” will be shown, starring James Franco, Seth Rogan and Zac Efron. When Greg Sestero, an aspiring film actor, meets up with Tommy Wiseau in class acting, they form a unique friendship and travel to Hollywood.
On April 30, “The Post,” will be playing, starring Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Alison Brie. The story follows a cover-up that spanned four U.S. Presidents. It pushed the county’s first female newspaper publisher and hard-driving editor to join an unprecedented battle.
On May 7, “All the Money in the World,” will be shown, starring Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams. The story follows the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III, and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother to convince his billionaire grandfather, Jean Paul Getty, to pay the ransom.
On May 14, “Molly’s Game,” will be shown. The film stars Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba and Kevin Costner, and is the story of Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested.
On May 21, “The Shape of Water,” will be shown, starring Sally Hawkins and Richard Jenkins. At a top secret research facility in the 1960s, a lonely janitor forms a unique relationship with an amphibious creature that is being held in captivity.
The Bradford Main Street Movie House’s Facebook page will have events for each of the films, in order to find out which film will be playing that week.
