EDINBORO — Regan Johnson and Ashton McGriff both medaled twice while Emily Bosworth earned a medal as well for the Bradford girls at Saturday’s TSTCA Championships at Edinboro.
“We had a great finish to the indoor season with Ashton and Regan earning two medals each and Emily winning a medal in her first indoor championship,” BHS coach Larry Stillman said. “All three girls had outstanding races.”
McGriff broke the school record in the 200 meters, running a time of 26.20 to break Alexa Wilton’s previous record of 26.23 set in 2009. The time was good for fourth place on Saturday. McGriff also medaled in the 400, finishing sixth with a time of 60.45, as well as finishing 10th in the triple jump at 32’4.5”.
“Ashton broke a very tough record set by Alexa nine years ago and a record she has been trying to get for four years,” Stillman said. “Ashton has also qualified for the state indoor meet in Penn State next Sunday for the third straight year in the 400 which is very hard to do.”
Johnson medaled in both the 60 and 200 meters, finishing fifth in the former (8.12) and sixth in the latter (26.60). She also placed 19th in the long jump at 13’10.5”.
“Regan had her best ever 200 in the same race and had two very good 60 races,” Stillman said.
Bosworth’s time of 2:27.81 in the 800 was good for eighth place and also broke Paige Ambrose’s school record of 2:31.03 from 2007.
“Emily ran an excellent race and finished strong to medal and break the 800 record by four seconds set by Paige 11 years ago,” Stillman said, adding, “The three young ladies have combined to set three indoor records in the past two weeks.”
Elsewhere, Mikayla Bond finished 12th in the high jump at 4’9.5” and Abby Coffman placed 14th in the shot put at 30’3”. The 4×200 relay team of Johnson, Jaden Griffin, Bosworth, and McGriff finished 12th with a time of 1:53.46.
“Our 4×200 ran well and Abby and Mikayla also finished with solid performances,” Stillman said.
