Before you cut a check to pay taxes to Bradford Township, the municipality’s supervisors want you to double check the name of the payee.
During a brief meeting held Monday, the supervisors announced that people making tax payments should now put the checks in the name of “Bradford Township Tax Collector” rather than tax collector Beth Monti.
The change is part of Act 38, said township secretary/treasurer Susan Gibiser. Supervisor Steve Mascho indicate that the elderly will have the hardest time with the change.
Monti has office hours from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday or by appointment at 415 Minard Run Road. She is available at (814) 362-6724, and payments can be mailed to: Beth Monti, P.O. Box 334, Bradford, PA 16701.
In other business, supervisors:
• Accepted the resignation of Sean Hvizdzak as a zoning hearing board member. He moved out of the municipality.
• Announced that a sewer line project planned for Owens Way has two addendums, so now sealed bids will be taken until 2 p.m. Feb. 26 and opened at a work session meeting the same day at 6:30 p.m.
• Announced that the McKean County Redevelopment Authority is accepting applications from township residents for homeowner rehabilitation grants. The program is for low income and retirees. Information is posted at the township municipal building and at the redevelopment authority.
Also at the meeting, Supervisor Gayle Bauer reported that in January the township police department responded to 166 calls for service and 10 motor vehicle accidents.
The supervisors next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 12 at the municipal building.
