Dixie and “Bud” Wright are the queen and king of the 28th annual International Crosby Cow and Coyote Hunt that was held Saturday. This tongue-in-cheek event, which has become part of local lore, had a modest beginning in 1991 when hunters set out to locate a bull and three cows that had escaped from a property west of Port Allegany and found refuge near the head of Colegrove Brook. About that time, coyotes were becoming more numerous in those woods and were added to the hunt. Since its first hunt, the ICCCH, through the sales of hats and auctions, has generated in excess of $400,000, all of which has been donated to non-profit and youth organizations.
