Another week, another snow storm.
According to Meteorologist Joe Ceru of the National Weather Service in State College, McKean County should expect a snow storm beginning this evening through Wednesday evening — and that’s just the beginning.
“While we should be expecting the heaviest amount of snow accumulation on Wednesday, by the weekend we may see another storm pick up in the area,” Ceru said.
Throughout the week, snow showers have been consistent, with an accumulation of 1 to 2 inches a day. It begins to melt when the weather warms up, but Ceru explained the upcoming snow storms may keep the weather colder than normal for a while.
“Even with a strong sunshine, when the snow accumulates and packs onto the ground, it locks in the cold air,” he said. “It adds to the wind chill as well, especially when the air is dry.”
Over the next few days, McKean County will be seeing an average high temperature near 20 degrees and low temperatures near the low teens. By Saturday, the weather will begin to warm up and average near the mid 30 degrees through Sunday. Snow showers are possible through to Sunday evening. Monday will possibly see the end of the snow streak, as sunny skies are expected with a high near 32 degrees.
