Two men face several charges after allegedly walking into a Kane home and leaving with two cell phones.
Rodney A. Gage, 28, of 652 Dawson St., and Jesse A. Chapman, 39, of 109 Welsh St., were arraigned Saturday night before District Judge Dominic Cercone on the allegations.
Court records indicate that both are charged with burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, both first-degree felonies; criminal trespassing, a second-degree felony; and receiving stolen property, a second-degree misdemeanor. Gage is further charged with a count of receiving stolen property and two counts of theft by unlawful taking, all second-degree misdemeanors.
According to court records, around 7:30 a.m. Dec. 30, Gage’s ex-girlfriend, who was sleeping on the couch of a Bayard Street residence, woke up to find Gage standing over her. He allegedly picked up one of two cell phones that were on the floor next to her and put it in his pocket.
She also saw Chapman in the house, court records indicated. She told them to leave, and they did.
She went upstairs to tell her mother and to borrow her mother’s cell phone to call 911, and they realized her mother’s cell phone was missing, too.
She received a text from Gage “stating that he was tired of her shenanigans,” court records stated; also, she received a text from her mother’s missing phone stating that Chapman had her phone and was going to bring it back, and she should not call the police.
Both men were incarcerated in McKean County Jail, Gage in lieu of $5,000 bail and Chapman in lieu of 10 percent of $5,000 bail.
They are scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
