SHINGLEHOUSE — Fresh off reaching the 1,000-point plateau in her last game, Kalie Cowburn scored 21 on Monday night to lead Northern Potter past Oswayo Valley 48-41 in a key North Tier League victory.
Oswayo Valley (5-11 overall, 1-9 NTL) gave the Panthers a game, taking the lead after the first quarter, and never trailing by double-digits in the contest.
The Green Wave were led by Karina West, who added 13 rebounds and four blocks to her 14 points. Shayla Bickel had a team-high 17 points for OV.
“I’m very proud of our girls,” Oswayo Valley head coach Kelly Rice said. “We lost by almost 30 when we played them earlier in the season, so this game really speaks to the improvements that we’ve shown.”
Northern Potter (10-5 overall, 7-4 NTL) picked up its second consecutive win, and will go for three straight on Wednesday night against Port Allegany.
Otto-Eldred 67, Smethport 37
SMETHPORT — The Lady Terrors were in control throughout Monday’s game to remain perfect in NTL play on the season (12-0).
Camryn Thomas and Ali Cousins both had big offensive nights for Otto, scoring 20 and 18 points, respectively.
Abbey Woodard scored a game-high 21 points for the Lady Hubbers.
Otto-Eldred (16-1 overall) hosts Coudersport on Wednesday in a rematch of Saturday’s contest. Smethport (5-11 overall, 4-8 NTL), meanwhile, is off until Friday when it travels to Coudersport.
Cameron County 52, Galeton 32
EMPORIUM — A big second half helped the Lady Red Raiders pull away from Galeton on Monday night.
Cameron County outscored the Tigers 26-8 in the second half to improve to 8-4 in league play.
Alyvia McKimm led Cam County with 21 points and five rebounds, while Amily Schatz added nine points, 12 rebounds, and three steals in the win.
Katie Pagano was Galeton’s leading scorer with 12 points.
Both teams will be in action again on Wednesday: Cameron County (8-10 overall) travels to Austin, while Galeton (8-8 overall, 4-7 NTL) hosts Oswayo Valley.
Coudersport 73, Austin 20
COUDERSPORT — The Lady Falcons got back to their winning ways with a dominating performance over Austin on Monday.
Coudy shot lights out in the game, scoring 52 points in just the first half. The Falcons had 13 girls register points in the game, with Haley Keck and Shaelyn Black each leading the team with 14 points, respectively.
Coudersport (15-3 overall, 11-1 NTL) will look to avenge Saturday’s 56-44 loss to Otto-Eldred when the two teams meet again Wednesday night in Duke Center.
Austin (0-15 overall, 0-11 NTL) plays next on Wednesday against Cameron County, still looking to pick up that first win of the season.
