ERIE — An inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution-McKean in Lafayette Township was sentenced for assaulting an officer at the prison.
Rogelio Muniz-Valdez, 42, will serve one year and one day on his conviction of a charge of assaulting a federal officer, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady reported. Valdez will serve the term consecutive to the sentence he is currently serving.
U.S. District Judge David S. Cercone sentenced Valdez on Jan. 17.
On March 15, Valdez, who was incarcerated in FCI-McKean, threw urine at a federal officer, according to a press release from Brady.
On Sept. 11, then-acting U.S. Soo C. Song announced that Valdez had pleaded guilty to the charge.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian A. Trabold headed the prosecution.
Brady credited FCI-McKean officers with performing “the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Muniz-Valdez.”
