PORT ALLEGANY — An accidental fire broke out on Saturday on Pearl Street in Port Allegany, leaving the occupants displaced until the damages are resolved.
According to Star Hose Co. Fire Chief Kevin Ernst, the department was called to a two-story wooden structure fire on 76 Pearl St. at 12:09 p.m. Ernst said three occupants were home at the time of the fire, but none were injured.
After investigation, Ernst said the origin of the fire was in a single room where the fire remained and was contained. According to the damage report, the property wasn’t insured and was left with damages ranging from $25,000 to $35,000, but the structure remained intact. When asked about the extent of the damages, Ernst said the structure is repairable since the fire was held to the room of origin.
As of press time Sunday, the occupants were still displaced and staying with relatives.
Roulette and Smethport fire departments assisted on the scene.
