SMETHPORT — A pair of late field goals helped Galeton defeat Smethport 46-45 in a narrow North Tier League road victory on Tuesday.
After Smethport took a one-point lead with 10 seconds to go, Galeton’s Makaya Shadle made two free throws with three seconds left that proved to be the game-winning baskets.
“It was a close game the whole way,” Smethport coach Eric Lutz said. “Both teams played well.”
Shadle (11 points), Katie Pagano (14 points), and Cara Parsell (12 points) all finished in double figures for Galeton.
Abbey Woodard poured in a game-high 28 points in the losing effort.
Both teams will be in action on Thursday: Galeton (8-6 overall, 4-5 NTL) will host Coudersport, while Smethport (4-10 overall, 3-7 NTL) will visit Austin.
Cameron County 54, Port Allegany 22
EMPORIUM — The Lady Red Raiders outscored Port A 30-7 in the second half to cruise to an NTL victory on Tuesday.
Amily Schatz notched a double-double for Cameron County, finishing with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, Kamme Guisto (14 points, five assists) and Laila Smith (seven points, 11 rebounds) also had productive outings.
Cailey Barnett scored 15 points to lead the Lady Gators.
Both teams will play on Thursday: Cameron County (6-10 overall, 6-4 NTL) travels to Northern Potter, while Port Allegany (4-9 overall, 3-5 NTL) hosts Oswayo Valley.
Otto-Eldred 66, Austin 17
DUKE CENTER — A whopping 13 different players scored points for Otto-Eldred as the Lady Terrors routed Austin on Tuesday.
O-E’s balanced attack was marked by the fact that Ali Cousins’ 10 points was enough to lead the team in scoring.
Jordan Brewer led Austin with six points.
Otto-Eldred (14-0 overall, 10-0 NTL) hosts Kane today, while Austin (0-13 overall, 0-9 NTL) hosts Smethport on Thursday.
