EDINBORO — Bradford High seniors John Eakin and Logan Caruso both placed second in their respective events at the Tri-State Coaches Meet at Edinboro on Saturday.
Eakin took second in the shot put with a season-best throw of 52’5.
“John is getting closer each week to the form he needs to really put that shot put out there,” BHS coach Tom Tessena said. “It’s hard when you can only throw once a week.”
Caruso placed second in the mile with a time of 4:41.68.
“We really need some good interval work on a track for Logan to get into his best form,” Tessena said. “It’s been tough running outside lately but Logan is getting out there each day.”
Caruso also placed seventh in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:45.09.
“Logan improved in both races from our last meet two weeks ago so he is going in the right direction,” Tessena said.
Junior Matt Stafford had perhaps the best overall day where he placed sixth in the 60 meter high hurdles (8.85, 8.84). He also placed ninth in the 60 meter dash (7.33, 7.35) and ninth in the 200 meters (23.77). Stafford had personal bests twice in both the 60m and the 60m high hurdles and also in the 200 meters.
Also competing for Bradford were: Quentin Minard (800 meters, 2:37.24), David Allen (mile, 5:42), Kyle Stewart (60m, 8.25; 200m, 27.13).
Bradford’s next meet will be on Saturday at Houghton University.
