SALAMANCA, N.Y. — An evening nature hike will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Feb. 2 at Allegany State Park.
The hike will begin in the parking lot of the Red House Chapel. The Environmental Education and Recreation Department will guide participants along the Red House Bike Path and a section of the new Hemlock Hollow trail in search of some early signs of spring.
Participants will learn about how an animal knows when it’s time to get ready for hibernation, the preparation required to hibernate and the different kinds of hibernations.
Participants should dress for the weather; bring a flashlight or headlamp, water, snack, and a sense of adventure.
