EMPORIUM — Despite a handful of matches getting cancelled due to illnesses and eligibility, the Bradford varsity wrestlers had a very strong night against Cameron County on Thursday.
The Owls, who won 39-9, had victories come courtesy of Drake Hayden (forfeit), Tyler Thompson (forfeit), Dillon Keane (forfeit), Colby Keane (major decision), Derek Sunafrank (technical), Kyle Hartman (pin), and Austin McCracken (pin).
Earning the two victories for Cameron County were Devin Palumbo (pin), and Nate Palumbo (pin).
“We wanted to wrestle more than we did, but it is what it is,” Bradford head coach Jamie Miller said. “Everybody wrestled well, especially (Derek) Sunafrank and (Kyle) Hartman. We had a couple slip-ups, but overall a good night.”
Bradford’s junior high team won 54-6, with wins coming courtesy of Brett Thompson (decision), Quinn Lasher (forfeit), Lucas Laktash (forfeit), Jacob Lucco (forfeit), Cassius Rissmiller (forfeit), Brayden Plowman (forfeit), Will Luther (forfeit), Chase Gray (forfeit), and Christian Jackson (forfeit).
Bradford (5-2) is back in action over the weekend at the Mercer Tournament. Cameron County (0-4) will compete at the Northeast Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
