In an effort to help prospective parents find hospitals that deliver quality, affordable maternity care, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield announced that for the second consecutive year, Bradford Regional Medical Center has earned the Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care designation, under the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.
The Blue Distinction Centers+ for Maternity Care program evaluates hospitals on quality measures for vaginal and cesarean delivery. To receive the designation, a hospital must also demonstrate cost efficiency.
Quality is key. Only those hospitals that first meet Blue Distinction’s nationally-established, objective quality measures will be considered for designation.
“Bradford Regional Medical Center is proud to once again receive the Blue Distinction® Center+ for Maternity Care designation. As we continually strive to provide the very best in patient quality and safety, this designation demonstrates our high standards and commitment to our patients,” said William Mills, MD, senior vice president, quality and professional affairs, Upper Allegheny Health System, Bradford Regional Medical Center and Olean General Hospital.
The designation is part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.
Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated hospitals that show expertise in delivering improved patient safety and better health outcomes, based on objective measures that were developed with input from the medical community.
“The Blue Distinction program gives Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield members the ability to choose their providers based upon reliable quality and safety information. It also provides a pathway for exceptional providers to demonstrate their value, and delivers the kind of transparency necessary for members to make informed value-driven healthcare decisions. We congratulate Bradford Regional Medical Center on its accomplishment and thank our members for choosing Highmark BCBS,” said Dr. Charles DeShazer, vice president and executive medical director, clinical services, medical policy and quality.
