As 2018 begins, the municipalities in the area have begun to lay out their projects and goals for the year.
Mayor Tom Riel mentioned numerous plans for Bradford City, including building and maintenance.
There will be numerous paving projects throughout the area this year, along with sewer repair and maintenance of broken lines. These projects are expected to take place in spring and summer.
Graham Packaging, located on Glenwood Avenue by the McKean County SPCA, will undergo an expansion that is finally coming to fruition. The warehouse is currently 124,800 square feet, and will be enlarged by 79,200 square feet.
When asked if he believes 2018 will be a fresh start for the area, Riel stated, “I sure hope so.”
He said the goal for the year is to keep maintaining the area without raising taxes for the people that live here.
There will also be work on commercial developments throughout the area, including Main Street. This will help to enhance tax space, as well as making use of vacant land.
There will be Main Street rehabilitation, specifically around Veteran’s Square, and then progressing down the area.
Private developments and new homes will be built through the Neighborhood Partnership program. Demolitions will also be underway for buildings throughout the area.
Paving projects, along with sidewalk and lighting maintenance will also be on the schedule for plans this year.
Jim Erwin believes that projects to be underway in Bradford Township this year are “desperately needed.”
In the spring, work will be done on the Sleepy Hollow bridge. Permits will also be worked out for a Browntown Road bridge, which he hopes will be built in the spring 2019.
“Exciting things are happening,” said Erwin. “These projects have been a long time coming for numerous years.”
George Hocker, supervisor chairman of Foster Township, mentioned a few things they have in story for the New Year.
Dirt roads will be paved and sewer lines will be fixed throughout the area.
The township is also applying for grant money for a repair project.
He said he is excited for what is to come and for growth in the township.
“If everyone comes together and works together, this year will be very successful,” stated Hocker.
