The McKean County Redevelopment & Housing Authority has a new executive director.
The agency announced Wednesday that its board of commissioners hired Alcherrie Williams “after a long and detailed national search.”
Williams is replacing Dusti Dennis, who left the position Sept. 29 to take a position as deputy executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Erie.
According to a press release from the authority, Williams is a longtime employee in the housing field.
She “brings 20 years of property management experience,” the release stated. “Most recently she was a regional manager overseeing all operations for 1,200 rental units for a private property management firm.”
According to Bob Douglas, chair of the MCHRA board of commissioners, it was not only Williams’s experience but also her character that made them feel she was the right candidate for the job.
Douglas said, “Alcherrie impressed all of us on the board of commissioners with her enthusiasm for MCRHA’s mission to ensure that McKean County residents have access to quality, safe and affordable housing.”
Williams indicated she is excited to take on the task of supervising authority programs.
“I am incredibly honored to have the opportunity to lead MCRHA’s mission to provide McKean County residents access to quality, safe and affordable housing in addition to inspiring social, economic and environmental change,” said Williams. “As a housing professional, and most importantly, one who thrives on information and experiences, I am looking forward to what will be a very engaging and fulfilling ride.”
Dennis had been with the authority since 2007, when was hired as deputy executive director. She became executive director the following year.
Among Dennis’s noted accomplishments was the merger of the Bradford Housing Authority into the McKean County Redevelopment & Housing Authority. She was the director of both at the time. Dennis had also helped put framework in place to address blight issues across the county.
The McKean County Redevelopment & Housing Authority was chartered in 1971. Today, it owns 416 public housing units and administers 468 Housing Choice Voucher rental property contracts. The authority also helps McKean County municipalities with the infrastructure for future development.
