KANE — An Eldred man has been charged with giving false information on paperwork to purchase a handgun.
Dustin Baldwin, 21, of 45 Lawrence Lane, is charged with making a false statement on a firearms form, a third-degree felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a third-degree misdemeanor.
On March 22, Baldwin attempted to purchase a handgun at Keystone Tactical Firearms & Machine in Lafayette Township. When filling out the Department of Justice form for the transaction record, Baldwin indicated he had no prior conviction. However, a search showed he had been convicted of a misdemeanor in 2015, according to court records.
Baldwin was arraigned before District Judge David Engman and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court Jan. 4.
