KANE — After a relatively quiet start, the Kane girls raced past Bradford on Wednesday night 52-24 in a non-league contest.
Junior Ella Marconi had a monster game for Kane, leading the team with 13 points, and also grabbed nine boards and eight blocks. Rachel Morgan had 10 boards and contributed seven points.
“A very good team win tonight,” Kane head coach Dave Kiehl said. “We started a little slow but our defense kicked in and gave us some easy ones of our press. All 12 girls played and played well.”
The Lady Owls (0-6) got 10 points from Erica Marshall, and eight from Brinya Moffet. Bradford next plays in the Coudersport tournament next week.
Kane (4-0) takes on North Clarion next Wednesday.

Smethport 48, Sheffield 25
SMETHPORT — The Hubbers held Sheffield to five first-half points en route to their second victory of the season on Wednesday night.
Senior Abbey Woodard led the scoring for Smethport, hitting 11 field goals and finishing with 25 points for the game.
“Thought we played great first half defense,” Smethport head coach Eric Lutz said. “But, as I told the girls, we did not sustain it in the second half. We are a young team but we need to learn those things and how to play better in the fourth quarter.”
Smethport’s game against Austin this Friday was postponed until later in the season, so the Hubbers (2-3) will next play on Jan. 3. Sheffield (0-5) travels to Ridgway on Friday.
