DUKE CENTER — Jordan Sherwood buried a trio of key three-point field goals in the third quarter and the unbeaten Otto-Eldred Terrors raced to a 66-40 victory over Galeton in the first round of the boys Randy Stebbins Memorial Tournament on Friday.
Sherwood also led a balanced Terrors’ attack with 15 points, while Dylan Close added 13 and Cameron Grigsby 12.
“We came out and played a pretty decent first half, but the turning point in the second half was when Jordan hit three big threes for us in the third,” said O-E coach Dan Dalton. “We also had the three kids in double figures, too.”
Otto, now 2-0, outscored the Tigers 40-23 in the second half.
Away from the ball, Close had five assists, grabbed six rebounds and came up with four steals. “Dylan had a good all round game with good numbers,” Dalton praised.
High scorers for Galeton were Joel Griffin and Evan Brooks, each with 10 points.
Otto-Eldred will play Oswayo Valley today (6:30 p.m.) in the tournament title contest, while Galeton takes on Portville in the consolation game.
Oswayo Valley 54, Portville (N.Y.) 52
DUKE CENTER — Oswayo Valley’s Theo Henry scored a career-high 30 points, including the game winners, to lead the Green Wave to a 54-52 win over Portville (N.Y.) in the first round of the Otto-Eldred Tournament on Friday.
Henry counted seven field goals and was 16-20 at the freethrow line, with his final two foul shots sealing the win for the Green Wave.
“We got off to a great start in the first half, especially the second quarter,” said OV coach Clark Cummings. “In the fourth quarter we were down by four with 30 seconds left. We went to the foul game and put them (Panthers) on the line. They missed the front end of some one-and-ones and a two shot bonus.
“We cut their lead to 52-50 and Garren Black tied the score at 52-52. We came up with a steal and they fouled Theo. He hit both ends of his one-and-one with 1.1 seconds left. Portville threw up a shot from around mid court and it actually hit the ceiling.”
Henry’s previous career high was 27 points by the senior earlier this season.
Jacob Karr led the Green Wave on the boards with 11 rebounds.
High scorers for Portville were Caden Keim with 17 points and Brendan Tobola with 14.
Oswayo Valley (3-1) advances to the title game today against the Otto-Eldred vs. Galeton winner, while Portville gets the loser of the game in the consolation contest.

Lutz’s points included six of the Hubbers’ nine three-point field goals.
“We made our shots,” said Smethport coach Jay Acker. The Hubbers have been struggling from the field. “We shot 48 percent … that was a pretty good shooting night,” Acker continued.
The Hubbers jumped out to a 16-8 lead and were up 28-19 at halftime. They outscored the Wolverines 26-18 in the second half to square their overall record at 2-2.
“We put a lot of pressure on Sheffield with our defense and created a lot of turnovers. That got us some easy baskets,” Acker explained. “It was a pretty well balanced game.”
Conner Alfieri backed Lutz with 16 points.
High scorer for Sheffield was Cale Albaugh with 17 points.
Smethport returns to action Tuesday at Northern Potter.
