A Bradford man is facing allegations that he assaulted an 8-year-old boy on Monday as a punishment.
Clifford Carl Carpenter, 48, of 163 W. Corydon St., was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone on charges of simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child, both first-degree misdemeanors; and harassment, a summary charge.
According to court records, on Monday, Carpenter believed the boy had stolen a Christmas ornament that a teacher had given him. He allegedly punished the boy by slamming him in a door frame, punching him in the stomach multiple times, kicking and slapping him and throwing him to the floor.
The boy had bruises, scrapes and abrasions on his body when he went to school the next day, court records indicate.
Carpenter was committed to McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Dec. 21.
