SMETHPORT — A Bradford man who was scheduled to appear for trial Monday in McKean County Court has pleaded guilty.
James H. Bolyard Jr., 26, pleaded guilty to one count of theft by unlawful taking, a first-degree misdemeanor, said District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer.
Bolyard was initially charged in 2016 in two cases for allegations that he accepted money for two home improvement projects that were not done, court records filed at that time indicated.
Court records indicate that Shaffer filed a motion to dismiss the second case against Bolyard under Rule 586. Rule 586 states an offense that is not committed for force or violence may be dismissed if the public interest is not harmed, if the Commonwealth attorney agrees, if there is an agreement that satisfaction be made to the aggrieved party and if there is an agreement on who is to pay any costs.
Bolyard will be sentenced Feb.15.
