RIDGWAY — A man was jailed over the weekend on allegations he assaulted a Kane woman Saturday morning.
According to Ridgway-based state police, Shawn Marcus Czeczely — whose age and town of residence were not released — was arguing with a 50-year-old Kane woman at 8:42 a.m. Saturday in Highland Township. Czeczely allegedly began punching her, then knocked her to the ground and started to strike her head off the floor.
Czeczely struck her repeatedly in the head and on her body, causing multiple broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung, police reported. The woman was transported to UPMC Kane for treatment.
Czeczely was arraigned before District Judge James Martin on charges of aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault and harassment, police stated. He was incarcerated in Elk County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 20.
