SMETHPORT — A Bradford entered guilty pleas Thursday in McKean County Court to charges in six different criminal cases.
Jeremiah A. Smith, 25, pleaded guilty in one case to theft by unlawful taking. In the other five cases he pleaded guilty to inhaling toxic releasing substances; in two of those five cases, he is also entered a plea to charges of retail theft, and in one of those five cases he also pleaded guilty to a charge of public drunkenness.
According to Assistant District Attorney Jerry Grill, on Aug. 22, 2016, Smith stole someone’s glass flower pot that was valued at $185; on July 6, Sept. 1 and Sept. 13, Smith intentionally inhaled fumes from a noxious substance; on Sept. 16, he stole two cans of a cleaning substance valued at $7.62 and inhaled fumes from the can; and on Sept. 1, he stole four cans of the cleaner valued at $16, inhaled fumes and appeared in public under the influence of the fumes.
Smith will be sentenced on Dec. 7.
Also in court, Tarence Brown Jr., 37, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility. He will serve 16 to 32 months in state prison with credit for 57 days of time served. District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said that on Oct. 4, Brown communicated with a confidential informant with the McKean County Drug Task Force, then sold the informant about 1 gram of crack cocaine.
Cayla P. Stoddard, 26, and Cori L. Stoddard, 28, each of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct and simple assault. Shaffer explained that on Dec. 18 at the Country Fair convenience store, they took part in a physical altercation in front of the register in which a man was kicked and suffered face, head and eye injuries, and there was damage to store merchandise. They will be sentenced Jan. 4.
Kyle T. Payne, 24, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault. On Aug. 20, Payne grabbed his girlfriend, pushed her into a chair and caused redness on her body, said Shaffer. He will be sentenced Dec. 21.
Robert M. Johnson, 31, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and a summary charge. On Aug. 26, Johnson was yelling in the street while intoxicated after Bradford City Police told him to stop. He struggled when officers tried to arrest him, and they had to use a Taser to get him to comply, according to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade. He will be sentenced Dec. 21.
Josef D. Godfrey, 27, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of theft by unlawful taking. On July 24, Godfrey took a personal check valued at $49.99, said Grill. He will be sentenced Dec. 21.
Joseph J. Montecalvo, 30, of Lewis Run, pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and summary charges. He will serve six months in the Intermediate Punishment Program.
Heather D. Metcalf, 30, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of retail theft. She will serve two to 18 months in McKean County Jail with credit for 15 days of time served. On May 22, 2016, Metcalf took $15.61 worth of merchandise from Country Fair.
John W. Green, 34, of Hollsopple, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of unstamped cigarettes. Shade said that on Sept. 18, Green possessed 20 cartons of cigarettes that did not have a genuine Pennsylvania tax stamp. He will serve a $1,000 fine and pay the cost of prosecution.
Accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program were Ryan C. Walsh, 22, of Portville, N.Y., for burglary, criminal trespassing, theft and receiving stolen property; Britanie A. Hollenbeck, 23, of Bradford, for conspiring to furnish liquor to a minor; and Robin L. Dilucia, 60, of Port Allegany, was accepted into the ARD program for driving under the influence of alcohol.
