SMETHPORT — An inmate at the McKean County Jail is facing additional charges for allegedly attacking a guard at the jail on Wednesday.
Cherokee Rubrecht, 22, of 35 Morehouse Place, Bradford, was incarcerated in McKean County Jail for allegedly causing an altercation at Bradford Regional Medical Center on Nov. 4, injuring a staff member and threatening to kill the responding officers.
On Wednesday, state police were called to the jail for a reported assault. At the jail, a trooper viewed surveillance footage which allegedly showed Rubrecht kick a corrections officer very hard in the groin, the criminal complaint stated.
The officer was helping his partner uncuff Rubrecht when the alleged attack took place. The officer told state police he had severe pain in his groin and back after the assault, the complaint stated.
The officer’s partner said Rubrecht attempted to bite him during the attack, but was not successful, the complaint stated.
Rubrecht was arraigned by District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail for this case.
He is still jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail on the case from earlier in November.
