CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is notifying area motorists that weight limits have been posted on a Route 4004 (Rich Valley Road) bridge in Shippen Township, Cameron County.
The one-lane bridge spans the Driftwood Branch of Sinnemahoning Creek, northwest of the village of Rich Valley.
As of Nov. 22, the posted weight limit is 21 tons for single vehicles and 23 tons for combination vehicles. Vehicles exceeding the posted weight limits are required to use alternate routes.
Posting weight limits will slow deterioration on the bridge and preserve safety until repairs or replacement can occur. The bridge was originally constructed in 1971, is 51 feet long, and carries an average of 100 vehicles daily.
