The fifth annual Camo Sunday event is scheduled at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the First Wesleyan Church of Bradford at 692 S. Kendall Ave.
Pastor Terri Niver will lead the service, where she will give a special sermon and pray for the hunter’s safety and success. Individuals are invited to dress in camo.
Camo Sunday began at the First Wesleyan Church of Bradford in 2012 by the Rev. Chris Terbush.
“Looking for a new way to present the Gospel, Terbush took a cue from his favorite TV show ‘Duck Dynasty’ and created this outdoor-friendly church service for hunters,” Niver said. “That year the event got worldwide press after the story was picked up by local and state media organizations. The story of the Camo Sunday church service was eventually reported by news organizations around the world.”
This year’s Camo Sunday festivities have been scaled back following the numerous community outreach events sponsored this past summer, including Christian Summer Jam 2017.
Members of the First Wesleyan Church are asking those attending Camo Sunday to leave weapons locked in their vehicles.
