The Bradford Area Lion’s Club is holding a Christmas auction on Saturday at the Bradford Township Community Center.
The doors open at 2 p.m., and the kitchen opens at 3 p.m. A trivia challenge starts at 3:30 p.m., and the auction at 4 p.m.
The Bradford Lions have held a food auction each month since September and collected foods, also with the help of the auctioneer who contributes difference food to the Lions Food Donation Boxes, which then gets turned over to the YWCA for their food pantry.
The event will have free admission, and no minimum purchase. All who attend that bring in a non-perishable food to place into the box will receive free popcorn.
Anyone that wishes to donate items and is unable to attend the auction on Saturday, call 362-6710 and a Lion will pick up your donation.
Nobody should go hungry. In Bradford, hunger affects many individuals from children through to adults.
Whatever the cause, the Bradford Area Lions Club supports organizations like the Y.W.C.A. food banks to assist those struggling with food security, and has teamed up with the Bradford YWCA to help fill their food pantries.
Lions are fighting hunger in their communities, while raising awareness of this global problem. Nearly one billion people do not get enough food to be healthy. Recently, financial and economic crises have pushed more people into hunger, and many hunger relief organizations are finding it difficult to keep up with demand.
