SMETHPORT (EC) — A fire that heavily damaged a house on Rosehill Avenue in Smethport Tuesday morning is still under investigation by the state police fire marshal and the insurance company.
No injuries were reported.
Smethport Deputy Fire Chief Wayne Foltz said that when that department arrived on scene, fire and smoke were showing on the west side of the structure.
In addition to Smethport firefighters, firefighters and apparatus from Norwich and Hamlin township departments and the Star Hose Co. in Port Allegany also responded to this mutual aid call, Foltz said.
The attic and an upstairs bedroom sustained major fire damage, while major smoke and water damage were reported throughout the structure.
The Norwich Township VFW sent a crew and an engine to stand by at the Smethport Firehall.
