SMETHPORT — A Hinsdale, N.Y., woman accused of possessing heroin and selling crack cocaine pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court to charges in two cases.
Melissa S. Wilson, 28, entered the guilty plea in both cases to charges of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said that on May 30, Wilson conspired with Larry Jones to deliver about 1 gram of crack cocaine to a confidential informant with the McKean County Drug Task Force. Then, on June 27, she conspired with Jones to deliver about .5 grams of crack cocaine, and she was also found to be in possession of 5 grams of heroin; while she was being searched by police, they found 12 grams of cocaine in Wilson’s possession, Shaffer explained. Wilson will be sentenced Dec. 7.
Also in court, Emma M. Graham-Norris, 42, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to two counts of statutory sexual assault: 11 years older than the victim. Between June 1 and Aug. 17, Norris had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old male, said Shaffer, who noted that Norris will be a lifetime registrant as a sex offender under Megan’s Law. President Judge John Pavlock denied a request for Norris to undergo a sexually violent predator evaluation — a practice that has been part of normal procedure in the county for anyone sentenced under Megan’s Law for years. Pavlock referred to a recent case in Butler County where the method behind it was ruled to be unconstitutional — and no SVP proceedings will be able to go forward until the legislature makes changes. Norris will be sentenced Dec. 7.
