Drug charges against a Philadelphia man were bound to McKean County Court Wednesday at a preliminary hearing before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
Rayquan A. Raymond, 22, of 1124 Woodlawn St., is charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, both felonies; criminal use of a communication facility, a third-degree felony; attempt to tamper with physical evidence and resisting arrest, both second-degree misdemeanors; and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, court records indicate.
Court records stated that between Oct. 1 and 30, Raymond conspired with a confidential informant with the McKean County Drug Task Force to bring crack cocaine from Philadelphia to Bradford to sell. On Oct. 30, Raymond brought about 14 grams of crack cocaine, along with a small amount of marijuana, to Bradford.
After Raymond was taken into custody, officers were searching Raymond in the holding cell at the Bradford City Police Station. For the search, his handcuffs and an outer jacket were removed.
When he was told to place his hands on his head, Raymond allegedly reached into the waistband and ran to an adjacent bathroom, where Detective Ryan Yingling saw him throw a baggie into the toilet.
Yingling tried to subdue Raymond, and they both struck the cinder block wall; while officers were trying to subdue Raymond, he reached up and flushed the toilet, trying to get rid of evidence — a baggie of crack cocaine, court records indicated. The baggie was recovered.
Officers had to use “a substantial amount of force” to “overcome (Raymond’s) resistance,” court records stated.
He is incarcerated in McKean County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Robbery charges against Bradford man bound to court
Charges against a Bradford man accused of trying to rob someone at gunpoint were bound to McKean County Court on Wednesday.
Lee M. Gourley, 33, of 52 Willard Ave., appeared for a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Dominic Cercone.
On Oct. 20, Bradford City Police were called to 86 Cornen St. for a report there were two men inside armed with a firearm.
Court records indicate that Gourley entered the home with a handgun in order to rob the occupant of “money and/or narcotics.” Gourley and the man he was with fled to 21 Pearl St., where Gourley was allegedly hiding from officers.
“Once officers had the residence surrounded Gourley attempted to flee out of the back door of the residence,” and he was quickly apprehended, court records stated.
Gourley remains in McKean County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
