Justin Zimmer eked out a win to become Emporium Borough’s next mayor, according to unofficial election results.
He received 213 votes to George Ted Sowers’ 188 in Tuesday’s general election. There were also four write-in votes.
Meanwhile, in Driftwood, no one ran for mayor, and there was only one write-in vote cast.
Cameron County saw a 35.87 percent voter turnout, or 1,050 people, according to unofficial election results.
Elsewhere in the county, Sheriff Al Neyman received 927 votes; there were six write-in votes cast. Barry D. Brown received 977 votes for district judge; there were five write-ins. Mary Grace Olay received 925 votes for prothonotary; two write-ins were cast.
For three four-year Emporium Borough Council spots, LuAnn Narby Reed garnered 319 votes; Patrick Vogt, 294; and Garrett Ramsey, 275. Ten write-in votes were cast. For a two-year councilman position, Mike Stuaglicio received 239 votes; 10 write-ins were cast.
For three two-year, at-large school director seats, Sylvia Homan received 717 votes; Shelia Guisto, 733, and Kelli Farabaugh, 479. There were 10 write-in votes.
Meanwhile, Paul P. Abriatis received 249 votes for the school director Region 1 position. Two write-in votes were cast. Marilyn Erickson garnered 230 votes for a school director Region II spot; three write-in votes were casts. For school director Region III, David “Scoop” McManigle received 292 votes.
For two four-year, at-large school board spots, Christy Bogart Bennett received 613 votes and Robert Lininger, 481, according to unofficial results.
Jerry Rhinebolt received 19 votes for a two-year role as Driftwood councilman; there was one write-in.
For three, four-year Driftwood Borough Council spots, Laird Lupro and Misty K. Lupro both garnered 18 votes. There were six write-in votes.
In other races, Kevin Smith beat Samuel Chilcote 43 to 30 as Gibson Township supervisor. There was one write-in vote.
In Lumber Township, Edward Uzdale received 50 votes to James F. “Cowboy” Cackowski’s 39.
Also, Paul Gabor received 33 votes to be a Portage Township supervisor. Philip Brown garnered 328 votes as a supervisor for Shippen Township; there were four write-ins. Sam Harbinger received 13 votes for Grove Township supervisor.
