Carl A. McCracken III handily defeated James F. Heckman to become a supervisor in Foster Township, according to unofficial election results.
In Tuesday’s general election, McCracken received 430 results to James F. Heckman’s 155. There were also 43 write-in votes.
Brandon Whittemore also waged a Republican write-in campaign, and it was unknown at press time how many votes he received, if any.
Contacted late Tuesday night, McCracken said, “I’m very excited. I guess I don’t know what to say. I can’t wait to get started. I’ve never been elected to public office before.”
In a primary election statement, McCracken, a township businessman, said he wants to expand the tax base, promote the Foster Brook area and Lafferty Hollow Industrial Park for development, and continue updating the zoning and ordinances relating to blight.
McCracken will join George Hocker and Gus Crissman on the board of township supervisors. Supervisor Dale Phillips decided to not seek re-election.
